day 11, Sung Sot (Cave of Surprises)

Sung Sot Cave is the most well known of the caves on the Bo Hon Island group; other nearby attractions include Bo Nau Cave, Me Cung Cave, Luon Cave and Ti Top Island. It is more than 12,000 square meters in size with three main chambers that contain 30 meter high ceilings and massive mineral columns.

The mineral formations, like clouds, spur the imagination. We could make out animals and plants in the stalactite and stalagmite arrays. One column had a red light showcasing the "sword" with a horse. According to legend, after a successful battle, Thanh Giong, one of the four immortal folk heroes, returned to the heavens, leaving his sword and horse to protect the villagers and ward off demons. The, cavern lakes, mineral formations, and glittering crystals are said to be the horse's battle path as it smashed through the land.

That's supposed to look like the sword...
