One of our favorite activities has been wandering about and exploring the city. We have enjoyed exploring neighborhoods on our way to destinations, wandering about to view the night life, or waking up early to catch the market. We have seen Hanoians utilize every inch of streets, sidewalks and parks to conduct business and leisure. At night we saw a group of people line dancing together and in the morning, another group was practicing ballroom dancing. In the light traffic of early morning, an entire market will pop up along a road, and then disappear within the hour to be replaced by motorcycles rushing to and fro; come evening, the sidewalks are filled with tables and chairs for food and beverage while the streets are a mix of people and motorcycles with the occasional bus coming through and moving everything out of its way. The choreography is mesmerizing.
