behind the scenes

The 2019 HK Sevens have been announced to run from 5-7 April. Unlike the past two years, the upcoming sevens will not coincide with any public and school holidays so demand for tickets will be back up to crazy. It's been good for the past two years that the child members of SCAA rugby have mostly been able to obtain tickets to play in the mini showcase. We have not yet been presented with the challenge of having to exclude anyone. In 2019, it may be a problem.

One aspect of helping out with the mini showcase that I greatly enjoy is the ability to see the back of house prep work. It's really quite complicated putting together all of the coordination to make the sevens go off. There's the marketing/publicity requirements, security requirements, safety aspects, player management, anti-doping requirements, hospitality, maintenance, etc, etc, etc. Everyone has a role (or two, or three) and everything has to come together at exactly the right time.

Everything ready for the first spectators, some of whom have queued overnight
